Easter Weekend Recap

It's late on Easter Monday.  The girls are nestled snug in their beds as the wind outside whips and whistles.  The house is mostly organized and cleaned and we're preparing to head back to school tomorrow after having our spring break.  I had a full week off, but the girls had just 5 days, however, we made the most of it!

I found time to reconnect with my preciously dear friend, Kristan, over lunch (which could have easily turned into dinner too :);  shot a couple head shots for a loyal client-friend;  worked on my new website and blog (so excited to share with you all - hopefully soon);  cleaned up some of the garden beds;  and got caught up on a class I'm taking called Brave Blogging with Andrea Scher and new friends.  Have y'all noticed me blogging more lately?!  Ha!  Yep.  It's all their fault and the inspiration they have provided!  If you are a blogger and need a jumpstart on your own blog or think about beginning one, I suggest you catch Andrea's class the next time around - I just may keep going back!  :)

I could overload the blog with images I created this week.  It feels good to have a break from teaching and pull out my handy little sidekick more often.  So, I will share Easter weekend images instead of the full week.  We made it over to our local orchard {Weaver's Orchard} for their Easter fun and egg hunt.  My good friend, Denean and her girls joined us!  Afterwards, we hung out at our home and dyed/decorated eggs.  Thanks girls for all the fun!

Easter Sunday was spent with family.  What a crew we are!  I did manage to get some video and will upload and share.  For now, I have a few highlights to offer from our wonderful day together.  My family is passionate about many things - especially having a great time in one another's company!  They continuously amaze me how they rally around one another in order to choose love.  I love their fierceness and their joy and their humor.  They are mine - I will keep them. ;)

Getting some silly selfies out of our system (but mostly just entertaining ourselves) on the ride to Aunt Ellen and Uncle Chet's.

Photo op with my cousin, Stephani, and our beloved MomMom (soon ready to celebrate her 94th!).  She's an incredible strength and love for our family.
Thanks, Joe for taking this one for us!!

And with that, we are back to school, and our regular routine.  Many overflowing thanks to my dear friends for sharing in memorable times together; for sharing your heart with me; for your kindred souls.  And mucho gratitude to my family for your love, light, honesty and devotion, and special tokens of luck -- You all shine and I love you.

Rejoice!!

“Easter says you can put truth in a grave, but it won’t stay there.” – Clarence W. Hall

"Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young-- a place near your altar, LORD Almighty, my King and my God." {Psalm 84:3}

I have a gift to offer you.  Each of the images shown here may be downloaded (or copied and pasted, dragged and dropped) and used as a background image on your device or desktop.  Please feel welcome to enjoy!  Happy Easter to you!!  :)

We are all singing joyful Hallelujahs today, my friends!  Easter is a favorite religious holiday, significant in so many ways for me.  I was baptized on an Easter Sunday - a second time.  It's a day full of beauty, light and reflection.  I love my traditional 3 mile walk among the quiet roads at sunrise, listening for birdsong to wake and fill the air, to feel refreshed and anew.  This is the day that the Lord, our God, has made.  Let us rejoice and be glad!!!

Happy Easter to you and yours!
Peace be with you.

You are the Light

"For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord.
Walk as children of light." {Eph. 5:8}

Stopping by to wish you a joyful Good Friday, my friends and dearly beloved ones.  Today, there will be egg dyeing and decorating; children's laughter and silliness; my own laughter; egg hunting (if the weather cooperates); sheep getting sheered; new buds on trees perking and growing more fully; photo images made; Easter flower gifts chosen with care; and reminders of my many blessings, for in my walk with Christ, I know He is with me, always, and I with Him.  He has made me His child of the light.  I hope to spread that light wherever I go and on everyone around me.

We are all called to be One with Christ, to walk with him, to share His gifts and what amazing gifts they are!  "I am the light...," Jesus said {John 8:12}, "...Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."  Oh, I do love that about our sweet Jesus Christ and his insistence to bring us into the light - where it may be a bit bright, where we expose our truths, the not-so-nice-things-we-do-to-one-another, our selfish tendencies.  I don't mind the light anymore, and actually crave it - that's what Jesus does to us, makes us crave the light (anyone else ever notice that too?).  He requires us to bare our human hearts to Him.  He himself craves that from us!  Giving us permission to do so, wanting us to do so - again and again - and repeatedly, without fail, without keeping score, He goes on loving us like nobody's business!  Now that's a love story worth telling the entire world about!!!  Man, what an absolutely phenomenal, heart-opening Gift He is to us.

It's going to be a great, Good Friday!

Welcome Spring!

“If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity,
prosperity would not be so welcome." ― Anne Bradstreet

“It's spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you've got it, you want—oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want,
but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!” ― Mark Twain

“The sun just touched the morning;
The morning, happy thing,
Supposed that he had come to dwell,
And life would be all spring.”
― Emily Dickinson

“Come with me into the woods where spring is
advancing, as it does, no matter what,
not being singular or particular, but one
of the forever gifts, and certainly visible.”
― Mary Oliver

“In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt.”
― Margaret Atwood

I'm doing a springtime jig, my friends!!  The loveliest season of the year has arrived!  Hooray!  May it be bountiful, beautiful, heaven-scented, and overflowing with birdsong and blooms!  Blessed Springtime, how I completely adore you.

Stick-y FUN!

Spring has arrived in the northeast - early, just as the famous groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil predicted!  Okay!!  So, he finally called it correctly and we are thankful for the thaw and return of green!  The crocuses are blooming and I noticed tiny buds forming on the trees.  Oh, yay!!!  Big, happy smiles here!

Taking a walk around our yard, there was an ever-plentiful amount of sticks and branches to be cleaned up.  Time to get creative!  Kurt and I asked the girls to help pick up and clean up the yard (there's much to be done and picking up sticks is the least of it).  We asked if they'd like to have a campfire and ... s'mores?!  Any takers?!  We had lots of help with a sticky-sweet reward awaiting their efforts -- ha! win-win!  :)  And, well, we always enjoy our family time outdoors, around the fire pit that my husband made for us last summer.  The conversation was woven with topics ranging from staying safe around the fire, the return of spring, the time it takes to properly toast a marshmallow, and research that Alanna has been doing on Mr. Walt Disney in school. The perfect recipe for an early-evening weekend treat in March.  ;)

Happy Weekend and Return of Spring to you, friends!!!  :)
