Good Things To Come

I've heard it said that good things come to those who wait.  Does anyone actually believe this?  I'm sorry, I don't mean to sound judgmental.  I'm sure there are plenty of good things to wait for - like grandparenthood. ;)  However, some things in life cannot be put on hold.  I guess, I could say that I have waited for this moment for a good long while.  The moment has arrived.  I am now the proud owner of my first full frame camera - the Sony A99.  YES!  I am super excited to own this camera and the amazing capabilities it holds for me.  I work hard at what I do, and good things come to those who reach out and grab hold of the time they are given, with two able and willing hands firmly extended.  I have just taken a really big leap forward, and, of course, I had to share with you on my blog.

In a way, my timing was ideal.  We had been shopping for a new television (something we have never purchased brand new before).  They just seem so expensive to me and we only watch videos (no cable or paid tv here whatsoever - I despise commercials), so we were hoping someone would pass their old one along to us (we love hand-me-downs!).  It just so happened that over last weekend's sales happening everywhere, a friend posted a notice in our mutual Sony Alpha Photographer's Group on Facebook that Sony was offering a deal that I couldn't refuse!  If we purchased the A99, we'd also get a free television.  Too good to be true!  Something for me and my family, also!  Well, Santa couldn't say no to this deal.

Putting faith, coincidence, and hard work to the test.  I leap forward.  Good things come to those who take chances, diligently work hard and set in motion their dreams.  My dream is coming true one chance at a time.  I am living the dream, my friends.  Waiting may be good for some things, but when it's time to invest in yourself, in your talents, in your dreams - the time is now.

Thank you for viewing; thank you for giving my hands, mind and eyes work; thank you for supporting my small business; thank you for your friendship, supportive cheering on, your compassion, and trust.  I feel entirely blessed.  Now, I ask - What is your dream?  Are you investing in yourself; in your talents, my friends?  What are you waiting for?  Good things are coming - believe.

With love & light,
Barb

P.s. the 1st six images were shot with a Sony a35 dSLT and CZ 24-70mm lens, and the remaining shots were made with the Sony a99 dSLT full frame beauty and my nifty fifty (50mm).  Mostly SOOC.

P.p.s. Sony is the best kept secret!  Oops, I let that one slip! ;)

Sneak Peek | Family Mini-Portrait Session

Sometimes the best of plans have a way of being altered and made even better.  I love when that happens to me.  So unexpected, so wonderful.  I haven't spent much time with this family you are about to see, and we have only gotten to know one another through Facebook interactions and mutual Pinterest interests, also.  But, for me, hanging out with these lovely ladies was like revisiting a good book - familiar, friendly, at home.  I couldn't wait to share a few sneak peeks from our Holiday Mini-Photo Session together!  Thank you so very much 'T' and 'N'; you were most hospitable, fun and the new enclosed porch was just perfect for our photos together!!  Please enjoy a few from our time together… :)

Thank you again, my friends.  I do hope you will love your photos for many years to come!  Happiest, Merry Christmas to you and yours!!  :)

With warm appreciation and friendship,
Barb

P.s. There's still time for local friends to have your Holiday photos created.  Please click >>HERE<< for details regarding Holiday Mini-Portrait Photo Sessions before Dec 22.  Thanks kindly!!!

Over the River and Through the Woods …

My grandparents' home is the single, most constant home I have ever known.  I moved about quite a lot as a child.  When people ask me, "Where are you from?" or "Where did you grow up?"  I have to stop and think "should I give them the complete rundown or not?"  It's a complicated, emotional question for me.  Although, I do believe that I have been able to take all the positives from my childhood and create a better self because of it.  I do have the ability to easily acclimate myself to different situations possibly better than some.  And I've met some of the most diverse, amazing people along the way.  I don't want my parents (all of them) to feel badly about the amount of moving we did - that is not my intent.  My intent though is to provide a loving, stable home for my own children.  It's important to me.  And my grandparents might have a little something to do with this fact.  I won't kid you or me - I do get feelings of wanderlust, and love to travel.  I believe it's part of my genetic makeup, or a learned trait.  Either way, it exists.  I won't deny it.  However, when I visit my paternal grandmother's home (my grandfather is no longer with us) it's as though time has lapsed for a short while.  Time stands still here for me.  When I walk through her door, I'm that little girl I once was all those many years ago.

My MomMom decorates for every holiday.  She takes extra special care of her treasures, and her home.  At 90, you will find her climbing ladders to clean cobwebs or gutters, weeding in her yard, keeping her home immaculate and she still finds time to have fun with family & friends.  I love my grandmother dearly.  She's a rock, and she'll always remain that way to me.  I am grateful for her love.  My family and I spent Thanksgiving at her home yesterday.  It was a wonderful feast of food, good cheer, happiness, and friends & family.  This is home to me, where I grew up.

I hope you also enjoyed a feast for the senses in the place you call home.  Because as they say, Home is where the Heart is.

Thank you for viewing, friends!  :)

With love & light,
and much gratitude,
Barb
