Mother's Day Mini-Portrait Sessions

I found a photo of my Emmy and I at a preschool Mother's Day tea from 2 years ago and it took me back.  More like, floored me and brought me to tears.  Something so powerful in that moment of seeing her arms wrapped around me with a big smile caused me to consider how many other mommas would adore these treasured moments as much as I do.  I can't even believe how much she has grown in those 2 short years, well, all of my girls, for that matter!

My oldest daughter, Chelsea, is about to graduate from college and begin her career with a big move out west to California.  My Alanna is taking her PSSAs this week in the 3rd grade; she has big dreams of entrepreneurship with a bakery called "La Patisserie;" and her ballet show is quickly approaching this summer.  My Emilia is an energetic bundle of go-go-go!  She's just about riding her bike on two wheels; preparing to finish kindergarten, steadily building on her reading, writing with a fervor, and painting or drawing more often than not!  These are just some snippets as I'm sure my mom friends have lots of their own that they want to hold onto and remember for always.

I'd like to offer you, my friends and readers, a very special way to honor mom this Mother's Day -- with mini portrait sessions!  Here's what's included:

A Day in the Life: Emilia's Birthday Musings

Today was our Emilia's 6th birthday.  And what a day it was!  Nonstop fun and entertainment from beginning to end.  I thought it would be kind of interesting to chronicle her day and document each activity; a way for me to highlight her new year's beginning with all the things she loves to do and is capable of now.  Sheesh, these girls of ours just grow and grow -- I'm privileged to be their momma and know that they are gifts from God.

In the spirit of 'All things Emilia' today:

Momma:  What do you want to be when you grow up?

Emmy:  A farmer.

Momma:  Where will you live?

Emmy:  Next door to you, so you can help me with my animals.

Momma:  What's your favorite color?

Emmy:  PINK!!

Momma:  Who is your best friend?

Emmy:  Alanna.

And so began our day...

Thank you to our friends and family for all the love:  for your gifts, your phone calls, your birthday wishes on Facebook and cards and letters.  We appreciate it all.  You helped to make it extra nice for Emmy.  It was a full day of celebration!  :)  God is good.

xoxo,

Life is a Song

We (the girls and I) do love the egg dyeing and decorating tradition every year.  This year was extra special because we spent the day decorating with our dear friends, Denean and her girls.  Two photographers, moms with girls that love art, loads of color, and fun equals the perfect recipe for photos!  :)  It was a refreshingly warm, sunshiny spring day with plenty of opportunities for sing song, play time (both inside and out), friends and creativity.  All wonderful things for this momma's heart.  'Thank you' to our friends for sharing a great day together!
