Happy, Glorious Springtime

The naked earth is warm with Spring,
And with green grass and bursting trees
Leans to the sun's kiss glorying,
And quivers in the sunny breeze.

~ Julian Grenfell ~

Every spring is the only spring - a perpetual astonishment. ~ Ellis Peters ~

And Spring arose on the garden fair,
Like the Spirit of Love felt everywhere;
And each flower and herb on Earth's dark breast
rose from the dreams of its wintry rest.

~ Percy Bysshe Shelley, "The Sensitive Plant" ~

These images were all created using my Sony 30mm f/2.8 macro lens in manual focus, with a great deal of love for nature's supreme statement ~ spring flowers! :)

Happy spring, my friends!!

two of my favorite girls

I had the fun privilege of hanging out with 2 of my 3 girls today.  We don't get to see much of Chelsea these days since she is living with roommates and working most everyday as a waitress in a local Morgantown PA restaurant.  Alanna has been missing her big sister, very much.  So, the 3 of us took a little journey together to the historic village of St. Peter's

It was a bit chilly to do the hiking we had intended on, but we found warmth and comfort in each other's company as well as some wonderfully delicious lunch!!  I will highlight the epicurean restaurant on my other blog:  Focus on Local (coming up shortly)

These two together make me constantly smile.

We did walk off some of our lunch.  After all we even found room for dessert! ;)

It's not the amount of time we spend together, rather it's the quality of time.  These are days that I treasure as I watch my girls grow and love one another, forming lasting sisterly bonds.  I hope you, my reader-friend had a quality Sunday afternoon, too!

All the best to you,
always,
Barb

spring cleaning

I spent today getting reacquainted with my garden.  I'm still a bit bewildered that this is the beginning of March and bulbs are bursting forth, buds on the trees are beginning to swell, and the earth is coming to life.  The high temperature today was in the low 50s!!  What?!!  This is very unusual for us folks living in the northeast.  I must say that I am grateful for the energy savings that we have enjoyed this winter, but … this just feels strange to me.

I dusted off my gloves, did some stretching, and then got busy with the cleanup: raking, sweeping, pulling, cutting, pruning, making mental notes of the relocating to be done in the weeks ahead (so many baby butterfly bushes and heavenly bamboo shoots!!) . . . This is work I love!

Not everyone was as busy as I was today.  Some actually lounged in the sun after stealing my energy snack!

Sure. Help yourself.

Never a dull moment, I tell you.

How was your day?  Have you begun your spring cleaning, or rather winter cleaning also?

Happy gardening, friends!
Barb

P.s. I have another Focus on Local project slated for this week.  Have you been following my adventures?  Fun!! :)
